Grand Rapids ranks high in beauty, affordability

According to Travel + Leisure dot com, Grand Rapids comes in at number two on its list of “10 Most Beautiful and Affordable Places to Live in the U.S.”

Coming in at number one on the list is a locale touted as family friendly: Hickory, North Carolina. This city boasts hiking trails in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with its Southern charm apparently inclusive of its affordable median home price of just $161,000.

The list was compiled using data from U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 – 2023 rankings, and includes data from its “most affordable places to live in the U.S.” and “best places to live in the U.S.” lists. 

According to Travel + Leisure, “Grand Rapids enjoys the benefits of a low cost of living with an approximate median home cost of $367,000,” has a “growing arts and culture scene” and “scenic parks along the Grand River.”

The family friendly nature of the city is also highlighted. 

“Ideal for those seeking an inexpensive, family-centered environment. This underrated city shines, especially in the fall when the bright foliage adorns its trees.”
