Brandon Davis, managing director of the Office of Oversight & Public Accountability and the Office of Equity & Engagement, emphasized the importance of the Summit’s mission.

“Summit brings together Grand Rapidians from all backgrounds to learn, connect and take action toward building unity in our city,” he said. “We prioritize partnerships with local and BIPOC-owned businesses and organizations to ensure that equity is at the heart of everything we do. If you are passionate about improving our neighborhoods, networking with inspiring individuals, I encourage you to register today. Don’t miss out on this impactful opportunity!”

Scheduled for Saturday, May 17, the free event will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Grand Valley State University’s Pew Campus, located at 401 Fulton St. W. The Summit is designed to be family-friendly, offering free childcare for children up to 5 years old and an interactive youth program for children ages 6 to 12, allowing parents and guardians to participate fully in the experience.

The theme of this year’s Summit, “Bridging Differences, Building Unity,” will guide workshops that explore strategies for creating a sense of belonging and fostering inclusivity. The event will feature a keynote presentation, a variety of workshops, lunch, and interactive activities such as a photo booth and city and community resource tables. Additionally, community members will be recognized for their leadership on Neighborhood Match Fund projects.

Given that participation is limited and the event is expected to reach capacity, those interested in attending are encouraged to register early here.

Registration will remain open until the event reaches capacity.
