A historic former paper mill in Vicksburg is offering appointment-based tours for children and parents to explore its 80 acres for one Saturday every month.
The Mill at Vicksburg, at 300 West Highway St., is offering its 80 acres one Saturday per month for tours for children ages 4 and older who are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tours are offered by appointment starting at 9:30 a.m.
Tours are available by appointment July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 10 and Oct. 8.
Tours run approximately two hours, plenty of time to explore the mill’s grounds, which feature beehives; grazing wildlife; bird, bat and mushroom houses; and craft projects hosted by the Vicksburg Cultural Arts Center.
“We love inviting children here to explore the 80 acres around The Mill and immerse themselves in nature,” said Alysse Thomas, event coordinator for The Mill.
This is the second year The Mill has been open for tours. In 2021, more than 200 children with their parents or guardians attended to explore the location’s nearly three miles of natural walking trails.
The property is undergoing an $80 million renovation that will see a brewery, museum, hotel, retail, event spaces and apartments added to the former paper product mill.
Admission is $10, and all proceeds benefit the Vicksburg Cultural Arts Center.
