A fitness festival will kick off with a launch party next week.

Grand Rapids FitFest, hosted by SweatNET Grand Rapids, is set to begin its festivities with a launch party from 4-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Calder Plaza, 300 Monroe Ave. NW.

The party will kick off with live music from DJ Danard and more than 25 vendors handing out free samples and sharing exclusive discounts and unique experiences.

A dance cardio class led by Valarie James of VSJ Fitness and a high-intensity interval training class led by Scott Hamilton of Scott Hamilton Health also will take place, followed by a silent disco to wrap up the night.

In addition, attendees can receive a free consultation from event sponsor Hulst Jepsen Physical Therapy.

The launch party precedes three days of fitness events and workshops around Grand Rapids as part of FitFest. Options include kickboxing, Pilates, run meetups, yoga, Zumba, dance and kayaking.

Advance registration is required. Tickets and more event information are available here.
