John Ball Zoo has announced dates for its annual Zoo Goes Boo event. This spooky season celebration takes place Oct. 13-15, 20-22 and 27-29, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Throughout the duration of three October weekends, the Zoo will be transformed into the ultimate Halloween destination with decorations, face painting, trick-or-treating and more.

“We are so excited to host Zoo Goes Boo again this year and offer amazing performances and activities for the whole family alongside our animals,” said Mariah Malone, events coordinator at John Ball Zoo. Highlights of Zoo Goes Boo include a variety of animal experiences, magicians, jugglers, music, favorite spooky characters, stilt walkers and more.

Attendees of all ages are encouraged to wear costumes and bring their own reusable bags for trick-or-treating for allergy-friendly treat options (look for the teal pumpkins placed at each treat location).

“Zoo Goes Boo is a favorite event among many of our guests, and each year we look forward to making it bigger and better than ever,” Malone said.

Purchasing tickets online ahead of time is recommended. John Ball Zoo ticket proceeds will be used toward the high-quality care for the zoo’s nearly 1,000 animals and the preservation of wildlife and wild places locally and around the world.

The John Ball Zoo is located at 1300 W. Fulton, Grand Rapids.
