A local business owner created an event giving holiday shoppers an opportunity to purchase unique gifts from a variety of West Michigan small businesses all in one place.

The Holiday Shopping Extravaganza, hosted by CuddleBuddys, runs 12-7 p.m. each Tuesday through Saturday until Dec. 23 at 4520 Breton Road SE. Holiday shoppers will be able to support a variety of minority-owned businesses in one place, providing an alternative shopping option as shortages continue in the national retail market.

A range of items will be available, including letter ornaments and pajama sets by Kulture Kreations, streetwear options from United Icons, soy candles by A-Romantic Sensation, makeup and accessories from Glam by Kam, purses and gift baskets by Occasions Baskets, and teddy bears with voice recording options from CuddleBuddys.

“The holiday season is an exciting time to be a small business owner,” said Amanda Morton, owner of CuddleBuddys and Start Garden Demo Day winner. “We really hope our efforts reflect and encourage locals to shop small this year, keeping money in our Grand Rapids community and helping it grow.”

The event is free and open to the public, and owners from each business will take turns managing the shop.

CuddleBuddys was created to provide a personalized and comforting gift built with love. Bears have been created for loved ones separated by distance, split custody families, deployed service members and those grieving a loss, or as birthday, holiday or wedding gifts.
