A longtime stylist is opening a new salon and boutique in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids.

Show Boutique & Salon, a “high-end” fashion boutique and full-service salon, will open later this month at 40 Monroe Center St. NW, according to Colliers International West Michigan last week.

The 1,570-square-foot space has undergone renovations and will feature a “vintage glam” interior design with exposed brick walls, bright white paint and décor and chandeliers.

“It’s an exciting time to be in downtown Grand Rapids, and I love the vibrancy the city offers,” said Jacqueline VanRavenswaay, owner, Show Boutique & Salon.

VanRavenswaay has been a stylist for over 20 years and a salon owner for 10 years.

She decided to open Show Boutique & Salon, so she could offer her “cruelty-free” hair and beauty product lines, QoQonut and My Kevin, in a brick-and-mortar location.

Show Boutique & Salon will feature clothing and jewelry, as well as various salon services, including haircuts, color, styling, lash extensions, waxing and more.

The business will also offer an online shop, and it plans to launch a subscription box in 2020.

It is now looking to hire an assistant and experienced stylists.

Tenco Construction was the general contractor on the renovation project.

Chris Prins, a senior associate at Colliers, represented both the salon and the unnamed landlord in the lease deal.
