Summer fare is everywhere

‘Tis the season for new summer menus and a high end chain restaurant with one location in GR is no exception. The new seasonal fare at Bonefish Grill is infused with tropical fruit and other South-of-the-Border influences. The new apps, entrées, desserts and hand-crafted cocktails are imbued with “summery” goodness.

How about starting with some Thai chili green beans, lightly breaded and flash-fried? This appetizer portion of this perennial garden favorite is drizzled with Thai chili sauce and served with sweet Thai chili and –  for the die-hard fans of the special sauce from the hidden valley – ranch, for dipping.

New entrées include wood-grilled pork tenderloin medallions brushed with a mango sangria glaze, and a wood-grilled mango sangria salmon, too. Other new standouts include blackened jumbo shrimp, dusted with Cajun spices and served over a bed of creamy Mexican street corn and an 8-oz. chimichurri bistro filet.

They went all out with Key lime cake for dessert; vanilla citrus cake layered with sweet-tart key lime frosting, lightly dusted with coconut…delish!

They’ve also gotten in on the hand-crafted cocktail game. Nothing says summer like a wild flower or fresh watermelon martini. The former is made with Ketel One vodka, tropical flavors of passion fruit, vanilla and fresh citrus juices finished with wildflowers and sparkling wine. The latter features hand-muddled watermelon, English cucumber, and Fris vodka with fresh house-made sour, garnished with frozen watermelon cubes.

Bonefish Grill is open weekdays, 3 – 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. -10 p.m. and on Sunday, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. It’s located at 1100 E Paris Ave SE, Grand Rapids. For reservations, call (616) 949-7861.
