Gilmore Collection’s Paddock Place, located at 1033 Lake Dr SE, has suspended restaurant operations to revitalize its kitchen and dining rooms, effective immediately.
“We appreciate the support of our loyal customers throughout this temporary closure,” said Gilmore COO, Michael Gee. “We look forward to welcoming everyone back to an exceptional dining experience in October.”

A press release issued by the company further stated: “These improvements aim to enhance aesthetics, overall guest experience, and the capabilities of the culinary team.”
Formerly known as “Mangiamo Italian Restaurant!” (also a Gilmore Collection restaurant), the Pub at Paddock Place opened in January of 2019 in the Italianate-style Paddock Mansion, built in 1873 by ship captain and silver miner Augustus Paddock, according to the Grand Rapids Historic Preservation Commission. “Wings” were added in 1909.
The mansion has undergone several incarnations, having been converted into Gibson’s Restaurant in 1983, transitioning to Mangiamo! in 2005 and Paddock Place, a rentable venue for weddings, receptions, corporate events and more, in 2017.
A lot of local lore and rumors about the building being haunted as made its way around the internet, including this two year old YouTube video by a YouTuber known as Michigan Man.
Patrons can follow the restaurant @paddockplacegr for updates on progress and sneak peeks into the exciting new menu coming in the Fall.
