Ballpark Series Chili Cook-Off

A Westside chili cook-off to benefit Valley Field takes place Oct. 1 at historic Sullivan Field, 650 Valley Ave NW, in Grand Rapids. Also known as Valley Field, the park is classified by the city of Grand Rapids as a neighborhood park. 

Ballpark opens at 11a.m. (teams can enter the ballpark at 9 a.m.) Judging and chili tasting, 3-5 p.m. At 5:30 p.m. winners will be announced. 

Bands that are playing at this event:

Mark Lavengood Band: 11 a.m. – noon
Pretzel Logic: 12:15 – 1:30 p.m.
Lighten Up Francis!:  1:45 – 3 p.m.
Viva! Blue Velvet!:  3:30 – 5:30 p.m.

No outside alcohol is allowed. Mixed drinks will be available for purchase, as well as soft drinks and water. Samples of chili are $2 per taste. All adult drinks are $6 each. 

All ages are welcome – 12 and under are free. Will have yard games out for the kiddos! Ticket prices vary and are available for purchase here or at the event.

There is no on-site parking. Street parking only. Entry is on the north side of the park on Sixth Street.
