A free festival will feature chalk artists, children’s activities and a final award presentation.
Byron Community Wellness Foundation’s West Michigan Chalk Art Festival (WMCAF) will be held this year from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 17-18, and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at Tanger Outlets Grand Rapids, at 350 84th St. SW in Byron Center.
The festival will include a Kid’s Chalk event from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday. Children ages 11 and younger are invited to participate in the free event alongside local artists.
Other highlights include a caricature artist, a clown and a DJ who all will be on-site from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
Awards for this year’s WMCAF artists will be given at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The people’s choice winner, which will be decided by popular vote, will receive $500. In other categories, this year’s first place adult artist will be awarded $1000, and second place $500, while first place youth artist will receive $100. Other awards to be presented include Most Humorous, Best 3D, Best Use of Color and more.
Byron Community Wellness Foundation is a nonprofit organization. The foundation focuses on community wellness and improvement through the development and coordination of events and resources for community members.
