The Grand Rapids Symphony will open its 2021-22 season with Grand Rapids Symphony-LIVE! at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 2 at DeVos Performance Hall, 303 Monroe Ave. NW.

“There is always a special buzz in the air on opening night,” said Mary Tuuk Kuras, Grand Rapids Symphony president and CEO. “It’s especially moving now after a long pandemic journey. Emotions will run high and deep as live music returns to DeVos Performance Hall for our opening classical concert of the season.”

Music Director Marcelo Lehninger will direct the orchestra. It will perform alongside musical guest violinist Adrian Anantawan. Throughout the event, the Grand Rapids Symphony will perform music such as Smith’s “The Star-Spangled Banner”; Jessie Montgomery’s “Banner”; Clarice Assad’s “Violin Concerto”; and Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 4 in B-flat Major, op.60.”
