Grand Rapids Magazine Editorial Internship

Job Description: Grand Rapids Magazine is a monthly print publication celebrating city life. We hire interns during the fall, spring and summer semesters for 10-12 hours each week. The internship includes both in-office and out of office work. Interns report to the managing editor.
Primary Intern Responsibilities Include: · Writing · Researching · Interviewing · Developing questions · Pitching stories · Compiling information
Qualifications: Candidates must have solid writing skills, be comfortable contacting sources via email, phone and conducting face-to-face interviews, be enrolled in college in English, journalism, communications or another similar discipline. Journalism class or school newspaper experience is a plus. You must also be able to work outside of the office, have a flexible schedule to conduct interviews, finish assignments and meet deadlines.
What’s in it for you? Successful Grand Rapids Magazine interns will complete the internship with a portfolio of published pieces and an increased understanding of the day-to-day process of putting together and publishing a city magazine.
Note: This is an unpaid internship and applicants must do internship for course credit.

Ideal candidates will work a minimum of 20 hours per week during fall, winter, spring or summer term. Must have the ability to organize, plan and manage multiple projects at once while communicating effectively in a fast-paced environment. Schedules are negotiable, but a minimum three-month commitment is required. A Marketing and Events Intern will assist the Marketing and Events Manager in day-to-day departmental functions, including but not limited to: · Create/develop/schedule social media content · Event planning and execution · Assist with marketing campaigns for all publications and events · Maintain a high level of customer service with Hour Media partners, clients, and guests We are looking for individuals who are… · Passionate about all things marketing and events · Social media savvy · Professional · Quick thinkers · Reliable · Enthusiastic · Eager to learn · Ready to hustle

Publishing & Sales Internship
Division: Advertising
Position Type: Internship
Job Description: Hour Media, the publisher of the Grand Rapids Business Journal, Grand Rapids Magazine, Michigan Blue Magazine and more, is proud to offer a sales and advertising internship for the Winter 2019/Spring/Summer 2020 term. Ideal candidates will work a minimum of 20 hours per-week. Schedules are negotiable, but a three-month commitment is required. Interns must be enrolled in a university, however the intern does not have to be receiving credit to be eligible for the position. Interns will assist the advertising director and the office manager in day-to-day departmental functions including: prospecting potential clients, updating and managing Hour Media’s database, tracking sales and surveying results, working closely with account executives, assisting with events put on by Hour Media and more.
Requirements: Qualified students will have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Hour Media offers its interns substantial projects and significant opportunity for skill-development. We are looking for hard-working individuals who enjoy a fast-paced environment and are willing to take on new tasks. Professionalism and responsibility are a must.
