The Grand Rapids Art Museum is opening a new exhibition this weekend to commemorate its 10th anniversary at 101 Monroe Center.

The exhibit, “A Decade at the Center: Recent Gifts and Acquisitions,” will be on display from Jan. 26 through April 28.

“A Decade at the Center” features more than 100 new additions to GRAM’s collection. The pieces range from 15th century-engravings to 19th-century paintings and mid-century modern furniture to vintage photography, as well as “historical design objects.”

“GRAM’s commitment to exhibiting and collecting design and craft is illustrated by the inclusion of important works of furniture, ceramics, glass and industrial design in ‘A Decade at the Center,’” said Ron Platt, chief curator, GRAM.

Platt added that the objects in the exhibit “marry function and beauty and show the power design has to enhance our daily lives.”

More information on the exhibit is online.
