The “big house on the hill” in Grand Rapids’ East Hills neighborhood is getting a new happy hour destination.
The Pub at Paddock will be the most recent dining venue to make its home in the historic Paddock Mansion, at 1033 Lake Dr. SE
The new restaurant and bar will host a grand-opening celebration on Jan. 29 from 4-10 p.m.
Guests will be able to enjoy “happy hour all the time,” including pub fare and a full bar, featuring craft cocktails, a wine list and local beers.
The pub’s regular hours will be from 4-11 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday and 4-11 p.m. on Sunday.
The Italianate-style Paddock Mansion was built in 1873 by ship captain and silver miner Augustus Paddock, and wings were added in 1909, according to the Grand Rapids Historic Preservation Commission.
The mansion has undergone several reincarnations during its time, being converted into Gibson’s Restaurant in 1983, Mangiamo! Italian Restaurant in 2005 and Paddock Place, a rentable venue for weddings, receptions, corporate events and more, in 2017.
Paddock Place is owned by The Gilmore Collection.
