East Grand Rapids is the “best city to live” in Michigan, according to a report on the best cities to live in each state by 24/7 Wall Street and posted by USA Today last week.

The article highlights the city’s park system, proximity to Grand Rapids and active community as reasons for its ranking.

East Grand Rapids is one of the wealthiest cities in both Michigan and the U.S., according to the article. The typical household earns over $118,000 a year, compared to $55,322 for a typical household nationwide.

East Grand Rapids residents also benefit from a low cost of living, as goods and services are 7-percent less expensive than the national average.

The city’s median home value is $303,400, and it has a population of 11,297, with a 5.2-percent increase over five years.

“Hearing news like this is so gratifying,” East Grand Rapids Mayor Amna Seibold said. “It has always been our mission to make East a better place to live. Between the city staff, our thriving businesses, strong education system and most importantly, our residents, we have been able to work together to make EGR the wonderful community it is.”
