Celebrate the winter solstice this weekend with an evening at the GRAM. Get into the holiday spirit with a holiday organ concert at the Grand Rapids Public Museum or take in a performance by Cirque de Noël with the Grand Rapids Symphony. Mighty Wurlitzer Organ Concerts @ GRPM
(Friday & Saturday)

This weekend, enjoy holiday classics from Lance Luce performing favorites such as “White Christmas,” “Silver Bells,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Let it Snow,” “The Christmas Song,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Brazilian Sleigh Bells,” “Mary’s Little Boy Child” and other carols.

Luce is an internationally acclaimed theatre organist, who has played hundreds of concerts all over the United States, Canada, England and Australia. In 2014, he was awarded Organist of the Year by the American Theatre Organ Society. Most recently he became the head organist for the Detroit Red Wings at the new Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit.

Concerts take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21 (SOLD OUT) and at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22. Tickets are $10 for adult non-members, $5 for children non-members (ages 3 – 17), $8 for adult members, and $4 for children non-members (ages 3 – 17). Purchase tickets here.

Light the Night @ GRAM
(Thursday)

Celebrate one of the longest nights of the year by attending Light the Night at the Grand Rapids Art Museum. This free event will feature activities from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m., including two art-making projects that light up, a scavenger hunt with a prize, holiday musical performance by Rob Karel and Ellie Frances at 7 p.m., and docent-guided Light and Shadow tours at 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Admission and activities are all free and no registration is required.

You can also enjoy a Flashlight tour. Flashlight tours take place directly following Light the Night. There is an admission fee ($15 public, $10 members) and pre-registration is required, as space is limited. Visit the Flashlight Tour event page for more information and to reserve your tickets.

Rockford Brewing’s 6th Anniversary Party
(Friday)

Rockford Brewing Company is celebrating six years of business with two beer releases, specials and live music on Friday.

Beer releases include Imperial Oatmeal Coffee Stout and Amber Ale. You can bring your own stein and receive a 32-ounce fill of a mainstay beer for $5.

Rockford Brewing will be celebrating from 11 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.

Catch the final performance of Old National Bank Cirque de Noël on Thursday.

Since 2009, Cirque de la Symphonie has spent part of each Christmas season in Grand Rapids. Celebrating its 10th annual Cirque de Noel with the Grand Rapids Symphony, Cirque de la Symphonie’s company of acrobats, jugglers, contortionists and aerial artists makes merry with amazing feats of agility and strength, accompanied by beloved Christmas songs and classical favorites.

GRS’s John Varineau will serve as conductor for the evening. The performance takes place from 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Find tickets here.
