You don’t have to wait for the sun to come out tomorrow. It shines non-stop in Grand Rapids Civic Theatre’s latest powerhouse production, “Annie.”
Honestly, there was a point during the play “The Nether” on opening night Thursday evening where my guest wanted to walk out of the auditorium. Quite frankly, that’s something I was happy to hear, as I don’t think I want to know any person sitting in that audience that didn’t feel disturbed to their core of the virtual reality world brought to life on the stage.
If you’re going to the Heritage Theatre Group production of Tom Stoppard’s “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead” purely out of curiosity to see their twist on gender-reversed roles, first understand it is perhaps the least absurdist encounter you’ll have with this classic existentialist comedy.
