Do you love Grand Rapids?
Do you like to celebrate?
Yeah, we thought so and we do too. In fact, we’ve been Celebrating City Life since before you were born [check our stats] and we’re always looking for fresh, fun people to join us.
At Grand Rapids Magazine, we seek to highlight everything happening in and around the city in a way that’s informed, tasteful, insightful, and entertaining. For 50 years, we’ve been the area’s go-to source for a comprehensive look at what it means to live, work, and play in GR and we have no plans on stopping.
In an effort to take our celebration to galactic levels, we’re introducing a new internship program: The GemSTARS.
What the heck is a GemSTAR you ask? Oh, we’d love to explain.
It’s someone who’s curious and passionate about this slice of The Mitten. Someone who values the past and is enthusiastic about the future of Furniture City. And most importantly it’s someone who seeks to shine a bit of light on the undiscovered gems of the Michigan’s West Coast.
Sound like you? Great!
We’d never expect you to show up to a celebration unprepared, so here’s what you can expect. We’re a small company and everyone on our staff wears many hats, not literally — well, maybe sometimes — so we need people who have a range of interests and who are excited to learn about the entire process of publishing.
We might ask you to:
assist in social media
find the next big cat video
enter data into spreadsheets
go out to lunch
say something (if you see something)
We won’t ask you to:
get us coffee
literally wear many hats (unless you want to)
So now what? Well, we accept applicants (at least Junior standing) for each semester. Please send a cover letter, resume, and a couple writing samples to email@example.com.
Publications employs talented, creative, motivated individuals.
