The 2007-08 Grand Rapids Magazine City Guide is your ultimate sourcebook for fun in the city!

A lot has changed in GR since 1980, not the least of which is Grand Rapids Magazine’s City Guide. City Guide was born in 1980 as "From the Editors of Grand Rapids Magazine: 1980-81 Bestway’s Apartment and Condominium Report.” In 1981, that title was shortened to "Newcomer's Guide." We settled on “City Guide” in 1983.

In 2005, we expanded this annual mid-summer supplement to fill the entire July issue with resources on the arts, entertainment, recreation, dining — the sights, sounds, flavors and personalities that make this town unique.

The complete list of “Best of GR” readers’ poll winners in 100 categories and two special 2-for-1 dining coupons will have you scouring the city for new places to explore all year long.

Features include two in-depth articles by staff writer Curt Wozniak: the magazine’s annual school rankings of 29 districts, with a story about the inequities in school funding; and a look at the Grand Rapids furniture industry, past and future.

Another highlight of this year’s City Guide is a story about Grand Rapids neighborhoods, with profiles and statistics about all 32 of them – a comprehensive look which has never been done before.

Features also include an artistic “journey” through Grand Rapids; and a humorous analysis by columnist Dwight Hamilton of just how cool the city has become.
